Scott Buck is a New York-based photographer who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Most of the images in these galleries were created on analog film. Having reinvented himself many times over the course of his seven decades, he finds himself a beginner once again — exploring inner meaning and photographic expression in the digital age with fresh inquisitiveness and enthusiasm.

Primarily working within communities of dancers, fitness and physique athletes, actors, musicians, artists, performers, LGBTQ individuals, tattoo artists, and those living at the edge of personal expression, he is redeveloping and refining his vision for portraiture, headshots, and impressionistic imagery. His work inquires into vagueness and the passing of time, exploring the intersection of flesh and spirit, the sacred and the profane, light and dark, and the androgynous blur of gender boundaries.

His photography seeks to embody spiritual presence, personal expressive freedom, Eros, and sensuality.

Scott studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His primary mentor for many years was the distinguished large-format photographer Michael Smith. He has also studied with Duane Michaels, Diane Arbus, John Durniak, and George Tice, and he had the honor of spending a magical and deeply meaningful afternoon with Brett Weston at his private residence among the cats of Wildcat Hill. His major early photographic influences include Alfred Stieglitz, Harry Callahan, Edward Weston, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Richard Avedon.
